'Mr. Ando of the Woods,' another ridiculous Japanese cartoon

I suspect this is from the creators of Salaryman Man, but I can't be sure (Someone please confirm if you know). But check out this cartoon "Mr Ando of the Woods'. It certainly tops Salaryman Man on the ridiculous scale - surely there must be such a scale in Japan - and the song at the end is both touching and hilarious.

Around this time of year a lot of people find themselves starting to get bothered by pollen and other allergens. One drug free solution that the Japanese have come up with involves pushing these two bits of plastic way up your nose. I don't know about you guys, but I'm not sure I'm going to be abandoning the drugs just yet. This doesn't look very confortable!

Japanese Commercial: Intel's Bizarre French Chicken

I'm trying to picture what must have been going through the minds of the marketing people at Intel when they came up with this... I figure it must have went something like this:

"Ok guys, we need a really catchy marketing gimmick this quarter. Does anyone have any ideas?"

"Well, I think a giant dancing French chicken is the best way to promote our new centrino processors."

"That's brilliant Tanaka-san! You're getting a promotion!"

The ads are all over television stations, and now their website is not the latest victim of enormous promotional poultry. Here's a quick look:

Danny Choo and Japan's latest fashion robot have strikingly similar body armor. One has to wonder if these two models are compatible?  Dare I say, "hot-swappable?"

As if giving away free iPhones wasn't news enough. Couple this with the fact that Apple has been buying up memory left, right & center, and I think we can safely say that there will be a new iPhone upgrade coming sometime this summer.

From Apple Insider:

In a bid to possibly clear inventory, combat slumping sales, or both, SoftBank Mobile's new "iPhone for Everybody Campaign" is offering customers in Japan a free iPhone 3G with a two-year contract through May.

That's definitely good news for anyone in the market for a new phone in Japan. It remains to be seen if Japanese consumers who, like the rest of the world, are tightening purse strings in these trying times.

One Touch Condom from Japan

Here's yet another ingenius invention coming out of Japan. Or rather, an ingenius modification of a pre-existing invention. The one-touch condom implements what looks like a little piece of tape to make the package-wrapping process go a lot more smoothly.

This is interesting, and while it looks brilliant I'm not sure that I see it selling very well. I'm sure it's going to cost more, but people a few people might dish out some cash just for the novelty of it. What do you thing? Is this genuinely useful? Or is it just a novelty.
