What a Goth Girl Looks Like in Japan

If any of you guys are fans of the goth look, you'll be surprised to see what kind of outfit passes as goth in Japan. Or at least one example, anyway.  Check out this girl, who looks to be suffering from a case of late-night munchies:

The amount of color that she's thrown into this costume while retaining a clearly goth look is pretty impressive. I mean pink and blue dreadlocks?! You gotta be kidding me. That just flies completely off the awesome radar altogether!

Very Cool: Ice Hotel in Japan [photos]

Apologies for the cheezy headline.

But this is indeed one very cool hotel, and not just because of the temperature. While I don't know if I would ever want to stay there overnight, I'd definitely be interested in a visit. The baths look very inviting, at the very least.

It must be amazingly difficult to contruct a place like this. I'm not sure where in Japan this is, but if anyone knows please let me know in the comments.

Panda Dogs in Japan

I'm not quite sure how these little freaks of nature came into being, but they sure are cute little guys. Meet the Panda Dog, which is believe to be some strange breed of Maltese Poodle that was bred especially to resemble (you guessed it!) a panda.



I'm not sure how much one of these dogs would cost, but you can bet no matter what the price it'd be worth every penny (or yen). These dogs must surely be the ultimate chick magnet. It's cute like a panda, but without the vicious attacking of regular pandas. It's amazing though how close the color pattern resembles that of a real panda. You'd almost think it was just hair coloring.

Japanese Engrish signs have always been a good source of laughs around the blogosphere. But this sign, which actually doesn't contain any words at all, certainly takes the cake.

I mean, really. Somebody either is certifiably insane, or has an especially wonderful sense of humor. 

Anyone who has been to Asia should be well familiar with what's going on in the fourth picture.  This is the infamous porcelin hole-in-the-ground toilet, which many a foreigner comes to fear when trekking around Asia. Also known as the "squatter," toilets like these require the "user" to hover and drop your deliveries from a squatting position. While this might be seen as unusual in Western culture, science (surprisingly) has shown that this posture is better for your health.

As much as you might fear this type of toilet, so too do some Asian people also fear the Western toilet. I have seen black footprints on a toilet seat from where some Asian kid has stood on it and squatted. Mind you, I'd speculate that most of these of these sort would be country-side folk.
