Check out this crazy assortment of kit-kat bars seen in Japan. I guess just plain chocolate and wafer is far too normal! Looks like there are some insane varieties here, like peach and tea flavored kit-kats.
I think I'll stick with the chocolate, thank you very much...
If you've ever been to Japan and purchased a can of beer, you may have some across a surprising and somewhat dubious sentence like "beer flavored drink" on your can.
Technically it's not beer, so it cannot be taxed as beer, according to the following video report by CNN. That's a pretty fascinating business model, especially in these trying times when consumers might be a little less willing to part with their hard-earned cash.
How about you? What do you think about this kind of beer drink?
Many thanks go out to the ever-so-awesome Tofugu for the tip on this story. Apparently some sushi master in Japan has taken it upon himself to create Obama Sushi.
Obama-mania has taken Japan by storm, with English students studying his speeches, and vendors using his face to sell different kinds of products. Maybe this is just another example of the latter. But they sure do look cool! And tasty too!

We've seen vending machines for just about everything in Japan, ranging from eggs to cup ramen to "used" schoolgirl panties. But here's a truly useful one. This draft beer machine (while not a full-sized vending machine in the true sense of the word) takes coins and bills, and then proceeds to pour you a surprisingly good-looking pint. At least I think it's a pint.
Observe how the machine even manages to tip your glass on a 45 degree angles, and even manages to top off the head. Impressive.
Personally, I wouldn't mind installing one of these next to my sofa. The price in this video is 1000 yen, so I can see myself inviting quite a few friends over once I get one.
Ok. I know you're wondering what's up with the wacky headline, but stick with me - I am going somewhere with this. Check out this video of Wendy, an American in Japan, who likes to drink beer the hard way:
I've seen some crazy beer-drinking feats in my time, but never anything like that. This is just the thing to bring you your 15 minutes of fame, as Japanese TV absolutely loves these kinds of stories. I've come to enjoy these interesting little variety shows, because you never know what kind of crazy stuff you're going to see on there.
But you gotta give it to Wendy though. If you can wrap your lips around a beer mug -- well, that's a feat that's going to get attract attention no matter what country you're in. Hats off to ya!
